Ancient Practices Of The Church: An Opportunity To Learn

At the Professional Leaders’ Conference last September, a group of rostered leaders gathered to talk about practices of the ancient church that invigorated its life and that are being used by present day congregations. Among those practices discussed were centering prayer, praying with icons, meditation, fasting, silence, and walking the labyrinth.

As an outgrowth of that conversation and with Bishop Clements’ blessing, Pastors Twila Schock and Troy Hedrick have scheduled a continuing education experience entitled “A Conversation on Expressions of Prayer in the Catholic Tradition”. Our leader will be Pr. Jacob Gawlik. It will be held on January 9, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church, 703 – 3rd Avenue, Sterling, Illinois, beginning with coffee and registration at 9:15 am and concluding at 2:00 pm.

The cost, including lunch, is $10. For registration information, please contact Pr. Troy Hedrick – thjh3638@att.net or 815-394-1762. The deadline for registration is January 2, 1018.
