from the NORTHERN ILLINOIS SYNOD WORSHIP TEAM
Greetings dear friends in Christ!
After enjoying the Synod Assembly choir so much, we thought it appropriate to offer an opportunity to again join our voices (and hopefully even more this time!) from across the Northern Illinois Synod in celebration of the Bishop’s installation on Saturday, September 24 at First Lutheran Church in Rockford.
We will be providing an anthem after the prayer of the day and also leading the psalm. Of special note: We will be bused from Our Savior’s to First Lutheran that morning. Please contact us if you have special parking needs. During the service, we will be singing from a large balcony with 2 flights of stairs to climb. The service is expected to be about 2 hours long. We thank Immanuel Lutheran of Dixon, IL for allowing us to have a central point in the synod from which to have a rehearsal. We also hope you will invite others from your congregation to sing that might not usually sing in choir to join us.
Due to logistics, it will be very important for us to have as close to an accurate head count for participation in the choir as possible. I can be reached by phone or text at: 815-981-5477 and by email at: email@example.com. Enclosed you will find one copy of the anthem and psalm.
Below is information on ordering the music.
- Wash Their Feet by Pepper Choplin (SATB) is the anthem and can be ordered through:
www.sheetmusicplus.com (e-print also available)
www.jwpepper.com (both websites have full recordings available for listening/practice)
- Centre of My Life by Paul Inwood from Psalm Songs (volume 2) by David Ogden ** This is currently out of print. Hang on tight to your copies.
Here are your rehearsal opportunities and details:
- Saturday, September 17 at 10am (1-2hr. max) at Immanuel Lutheran Church: 1013 Franklin Grove Road, Dixon, IL 61021
- Saturday, September 24 at 8am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church: 3300 Rural Street, Rockford, IL 61107 (After rehearsal, we’ll be shuttled over to First Lutheran for the service and back to Our Savior’s following the worship service.)
Singing with gratitude,
Scott and Leslie Aska, First Lutheran Church
