E-Alert from Lutheran Disaster Response
“Let your steadfast love become my comfort according to your promise to your servant.”
– Psalm 119:76
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi on Sept. 28, leading to a devastating tsunami. So far, more than 1,200 people have died, and the death toll is expected to keep climbing as emergency workers rush to clear debris and find survivors.
Through our long-standing companion relationships in Indonesia, Lutheran Disaster Response is providing relief and will continue to support survivors on the long road to recovery. I’m writing to ask you to give to support recovery of the Indonesia earthquake and tsunami. The road to recovery will be long, but – through our companion churches and partners in Indonesia – we have an opportunity to accompany survivors and let them know they are not alone.
Stay connected to the latest events and our response to this and other disasters through our Facebook page. Join me in prayer and partnership, and use this bulletin insert in your congregation to help spread the word.
Your gifts ensure that we can address the immediate and long-term needs of survivors of this disaster. Please give today.
With gratitude for your partnership,
The Rev. Daniel Rift
