The Northeast Conference of the Northern Illinois Synod will hold their annual Spring Assembly on Wednesday, May 30, at Salem Lutheran Church (1145 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore), from 6-8pm. Salem will generously provide dinner for those who attend. The topic will be “The Congregational Vitality Survey.” The Congregational Vitality Survey helps faith communities focus on mission and ministry. It helps congregations take an in-depth look at who they are, how they function, and how they’re meeting the spiritual needs of the congregation. Assistant to the Bishop, Rev. Gary Erickson, will be leading this presentation, which will be followed by a time for questions and answers. All leaders of congregations in the NE Conference (both lay and rostered) are invited to attend. Please rsvp by May 23 either by calling 815-895-9171 or by emailing email@example.com so the church can adequately prepare for the evening.
Rostered leaders are expected to attend. Please invite members of your congregations to join you, especially those attending Synod Assembly in June and those who have a heart for mission and growing their faith. The main reason to hold May’s meeting in the evening is to allow parishioners to attend. This is an excellent way for them to get a feel for the synod and for those attending assembly to get a bit of acclimation to that. Additionally, your congregation may decide to use the Congregational Vitality Survey, and this will be a good way to get the information you need to make that decision. Gary is also presenting this at CRE, so you could open up a new workshop spot for yourself by attending the Spring Assembly.
