Sun has set on another day at the Churchwide Assembly. It was an exciting day, which included a powerful message from Bishop Medardo Gomez of El Salvador and a repudiation of the Doctrine of Discovery. “Declaration on the Way” was also introduced, which details current theological agreements with the Roman Catholic Church.

The Churchwide Assembly is grounded in worship. We began today with Holy Communion. Following the Affirmation of Baptism, a procession included bishops and bishops-elect of the church and synod vice-presidents. I am pictured here with Bishop Gary Wollersheim and Bill Bartlett.
