Professional Leaders Conference

The 2018 NIS Professional Leaders Conference will be September 10-12, 2018 with Dr. Benjamin M. Stewart, the Gordon A. Braatz Associate Professor of Worship, Director of Advanced Studies at Lutheran School of Theology, Chicago and Richard Bruxvoort-Colligan from Strawberry Point, IA. Find out more about our presenters.

Renewing the Wisdom Tradition in a ‘Post-Truth’ Era

With the recent prominence of fake news, alternative facts, and a variety of fundamentalisms, many people are asking Pilate’s question, “what is truth?” The scriptural wisdom tradition portrays truth-seeking as a sacred and beautiful spiritual practice. We will explore how this ancient biblical tradition offers a spirituality for today: deepening our appreciation for the wonders of the created world, contesting rigid ideologies, and wrestling with what it means to be mortal on a living earth.

The NIS Professional Leaders Conference is the key yearly opportunity for leaders to experience collegiality and connect with what is going on in our Synod. All NIS professional leaders (rostered leaders, seminary students, and paid professional congregational leaders) and their spouses are encouraged to come and share in this opportunity.

Bring a copy of the ELW for worship.
