Freeport – Come to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church-ELCA November 8 through the 11 for a Fair Trade Fair featuring fairly traded handcrafts and consumables from artisans and farmers in developing regions around the world. The sale will be held at Prince of Peace (2700 W Stephenson St, Freeport) on Thursday/Friday, November 8/9 from 9 am – 6 pm, Saturday, November 10 from 9 am -2 pm, and Sunday, November 11 from 9 am – Noon.
A wide variety of handcrafted goods will be available from baskets and jewelry to ornaments and nativities. Fairly traded coffee, tea, cocoa, chocolate and other consumables will also be sold. All of the high-quality items available at the Fair Trade Fair are provided by artisans and farmers from 25 countries around the world. Every purchase directly helps to improve working conditions, and provides healthcare and education for the artisans, farmers and their families by offering them fair prices for their products.
Organizing the sale is Julie Lee, Prince of Peace’s Director of Congregational Ministries. “This is our fourteenth year hosting the Fair Trade Fair and as always, we’re pleased to provide an avenue for our community to purchase fairly traded goods. Each purchase provides a meal or clothing or schooling to families living in poverty. We are passionate about Community & Global Outreach – we’re glad to support the artisans and farmers through the Fair Trade Fair.”
