Bishop Clements to speak at Augustana Founders Day service April 28 in Andover

Northern IL Synod Bishop Jeffrey Clements will be the featured speaker at the annual Founders Day Service on Sunday, April 28, 4 pm, at the Jenny Lind Chapel in Andover.  This service celebrates the founding of Augustana Lutheran Church in Andover, Augustana Lutheran Church in America and Augustana College and Theological Seminary in Rock Island.

Special music will be provided by the Quad Cities Celtic instrumental group:  John Kinser-drums, Jenny Garner-flute, Kristin Stambaugh-fiddle and Chris Dunn-guitar.  The recently renovated 160-year old melodeon will be re-dedicated.  Pam Edwards from Geneseo will then play this historic instrument, which was used for services at the Chapel in the 1850’s and 1860’s.  Deanna Swanson from Andover will be the organist.

Following the service, light refreshments will be served by members of Salem Lutheran Church in Moline.
