DESCRIPTION:Asking for a gift for ministry excellence can sometimes be daun
ting for church leaders\, especially in uncertain times. But there is good
news: generosity is a gift of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Inviting disci
ples to put treasure and time where they say their heart is can be life-gi
ving all around\, but not every way of asking nor every way of receiving i
s geared toward ministry sustainability.\nFacilitated by the Rev. Tim Brow
n\, ELCA director for congregational stewardship\, and the Rev. Lindsay Fe
rtig-Johnson\, synod generosity director for the Northern Illinois Synod\,
this webinar will look at the ins and outs of what makes a good gift invi
tation. We’ll discuss and provide practical ideas for how to avoid creat
ing a situation where an annual budget is reliant on a single gift (and th
erefore not sustainable) and how generosity can encourage generosity throu
ghout the whole process.\nOh\, and you’ll get encouragement that will ca
 lm nerves!
