DESCRIPTION:This workshop focuses on the ELCA Social Statement on Abortion\
, approved in 1991. The Supreme Court's 2023 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson
Women's Health ushered in a new era in the ongoing work for reproductive j
ustice. Once again in U.S. history\, human rights vary dramatically from s
tate to state. While the role of religion as a force opposing abortion acc
ess is well known\, the powerful legacy of religious advocacy for trusting
women and supporting pregnant people is newly relevant. In this workshop\
, Dr. Caryn D. Riswold will discuss how Lutheran social teaching on aborti
on highlights the unique opportunity for faith communities to extend and e
mbody compassion today.\nThis workshop is presented by Dr. Caryn Riswold f
rom Wartburg College in Waverly\, IA.\nThose who attended CRE on March 7\,
2026\, do not need to register for CRE+ workshops. If you did not attend
this year's CRE\, you can register for this free webinar by clicking here
