Dear Friends,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It is with sadness that I report to you the death of the Rev. David R. Rasmussen on Friday, January 3, 2020.

Pastor Rasmussen was born April 30, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois.  Pastor Rasmussen graduated from Evanston College in Elmhurst, Illinois in 1963.  He later graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa in 1967.  

Pastor Rasmussen was ordained June 1967, by The American Lutheran Church and began his ministry at Scandinavia Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, South Dakota and Bethany Lutheran Church, Mellette, South Dakota, from 1967-1974.  Next, he was called to serve at Our Lord’s American Lutheran Church, Chicago, Illinois, from 1974-1983. Next, he was called to serve at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Hazel Crest, Illinois, from 1983- 1989.  Next, he was called to serve at Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvard, Illinois, from 1990-1994.  Next, he was called to serve First Lutheran Church, Chadwick, Illinois, from 1994-2000.  Next, he was called to serve at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Peru, Illinois and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Tonica, from 2000-2003.  Last, he was called to serve at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Creston, Illinois from 2003-2008.  Pastor Rasmussen retired in 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, (LC-MS) Belvidere, Illinois with Visitation preceding the services from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the church.

As the church we offer our sympathy to his family and friends and because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we rejoice in God’s promise of eternal life, comfort, and hope.
