…for family and friends of Pr. Jim Hill who died December 5

Dear Friends,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It is with sadness that I report to you the death of the Rev. James R. Hill on Thursday, December 5, 2019.

Pastor Hill was born on January 26, 1943, in Webster City, Iowa.  Pastor Hill graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 1975.  He later graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa in 1977.  

Pastor Hill was ordained February 12, 1978, by The American Lutheran Church and began his ministry at St. John Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mazomanie, Wisconsin, from 1978-1982.  Next, he was called to serve at Grace Lutheran Church, Dodgeville, Wisconsin, from 1982-1988. Next, he was called to serve at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Evansville, Wisconsin, from 1989-1993.  Next, he was called to serve at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Beloit, Wisconsin, from 1993-1994.  Next, he was called to serve at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Mesa, Arizona, from 1995-1998.  Next, he was called to serve at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Miami, Arizona, from 1998-2001. Last, he was called to serve at Capron Lutheran Church, Capron, Illinois, from 2001-2008.  Pastor Hill retired in 2008.

A Memorial service was held on Saturday, December 14, 2019, in the Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

As the church, we offer our sympathy to his family and friends and because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we rejoice in God’s promise of eternal life, comfort, and hope.
