February 27, 2020

Dear Friends,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It is with sadness that I report to you the death of the Rev. Paul F. Wolff on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in Rock Island, Illinois.

Pastor Wolff was born April 26, 1944, in Cresco, Iowa, and married Jo Ann Luedke on December 28, 1968.  Pastor Wolff graduated from the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis) in 1966.  He later graduated from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1971.

Pastor Wolff was ordained July 4, 1971, by the American Lutheran Church and began his ministry at Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, Minnesota, from August 1971-December 1971. Next, he was called to serve Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wykoff, Minnesota, from 1972-1977. Next, he was called to serve at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Princeton, Minnesota from 1977-1987. He was then called to serve St. Paul Lutheran Church, Omaha, Nebraska, from 1988-1997.  Next, he was called to serve First Lutheran Church, Moline, Illinois, from 1998-2001.

Pastor Wolff’s love for the church continued as he served as a Bridge Builder facilitator/consultant.  He also served as an interim pastor in congregations within the Northern Illinois Synod. Pastor Wolff retired in 2012.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 1724 15th Avenue, Moline, Illinois.  Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church.

As the church we offer our sympathy to his family and friends and because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we rejoice in God’s promise of eternal life, comfort, and hope.

Walking with you,

Bishop Jeffrey Clements
