Obituary – Evelyn Marie Stahl

Evelyn Marie (Hopkins) Stahl was welcomed into her Heavenly Father’s House on Friday, February 21, 2020. Evelyn was born March 3, 1938, in New Castle, Indiana to Floyd and Enola (Wesley) Hopkins.

Her very early years were spent raising four children: June M. (Stahl) Cain; Albert L Stahl, Jr; Timothy L. Stahl; and Tammy M. (Stahl) Heral. Along the way, Evelyn also worked outside the home at Chiclets Gum Factory, Loves Park, IL; DeVries Grain & Fertilizer, Byron, IL; and Control’d Climate, Rockford, IL.

Evelyn taught her children some valuable core values: the first was to have a strong work ethic, in which we all had chores to do. We were asked to help clean up after meals, clean our rooms, feed the animals, help with the laundry and mow the lawn. It was very important to her that we all received a good education; especially since she did not have the opportunity to graduate from high school. Another was integrity which means honesty, trustworthiness, faithfulness, and that you can be counted on to fulfill a commitment to the best of your ability.

She also taught us to be good cooks and hostess/host. Evelyn always had the coffee pot on and some type of pastry when people came to visit.

Evelyn Stahl was a faithful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her four children: June Marie Cain (Gary) and family; Albert Leroy Stahl, Jr. (Karren) and family; Timothy Leroy Stahl (Kim) and family; and Tammy Marie Heral (Bob) and son; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister Judy Raines, Carlisle, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Willious, Wilburn, & William Hopkins, and sisters Waunetta Burks, Geneva Murphy, grandson Albert Lee “AJ” Stahl and great-granddaughter Abigail Faith Cain.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to June Cain, Family of Evelyn Stahl, 412 E. 13th Street, Pecatonica, IL 61063. The donations will be distributed in memory of Evelyn to local charities.

The family invites you following the Memorial Service for a time of fellowship, coffee, and pastries in the North Wing of the church.
