Living Lutheran invited its readers and writers to submit stories of gifts they’ve received that illuminated the true meaning of Christmas. The thoughtful responses remind us of God’s ultimate gift in Jesus, a child born for us. Read the compilation of personal reflections and discuss the article with a corresponding study guide.

The Lutheran World Federation shares global Advent music
During this Advent season, member churches of the Lutheran World Federation are sharing hymns from their congregations to show how Lutherans around the world prepare for Christ’s coming into this world. A new video will be released each day until Christmas. This music celebrates the diversity of the Lutheran communion and our unity in Christ Jesus. View the video library.

Mission Builders opportunity
Mission Builders will be helping build one of the first structures for an ELCA Latino congregation in about 10 years—Cristo Rey Lutheran Church in Columbia, S.C. The structure will be approximately 5,000 square feet and will serve one of the fastest-growing congregations in the state. Construction activities start Jan. 15 and work is expected to continue into spring. With interest or questions, email Bill Graves, director of Mission Builders, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Save the date: ELCA World Hunger’s 40 Days of Giving
This Lent, you are once again invited to join fellow Lutherans to study, reflect and give during ELCA World Hunger’s 40 Days of Giving. Journey into Lent as we explore the connections between our faith and our shared ministry to end hunger and poverty. Discover new ways to engage your congregation in the long-standing traditions and practices of Lent this year with:
A devotional calendar with ideas for how to engage in the Lenten disciplines of self-examination and repentance, prayer and fasting, sacrificial giving and works of love.
A weekly study with information about how your gifts to ELCA World Hunger are at work in the world.
Additional resources, including an inspirational weekly email series and coin jar wrappers to invite children and families into the practice of giving to programs to end hunger and poverty.
A resource packet with more information and resources will be mailed to you in January, so be sure to watch your mailboxes!
