Offered by the Northern Illinois Synod, ELCA, Racial Justice Subcommittee

Saturday, August 28, 2021

Museum is open from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Cost of entry: $14/adult; $11/students

As part of the Racial Justice subcommittee’s vision and mission we are inviting anyone interested to join a group at the DuSable Museum of African American History, in Chicago, on Saturday, August 28.

We have made arrangements with the museum to have a Northern Illinois Synod “field trip” that day.

Several members of the subcommittee are organizing groups from their areas: Joliet, Rockford, and DeKalb. We welcome others who also are willing to carpool or use congregation vans to do so.

At this point, the plan is to meet at 11 a.m. at the museum, where Mr. Perry Diggs, of the DuSable museum, will meet with us and give us an introduction to the museum.

If there is a wonderfully large response, we may suggest a group come at 11 a.m. and a second group at 1 p.m.

However, that information would be conveyed to those signing up after registration closes on August 13.

Weather permitting, after visiting the museum, we will go to a nearby park to process together what we have seen.

To sign up, please use the “Register” box below. When you register, if you are a student, or you are registering a student, please put the discount code “student” in the discount code box. That will bring the cost down from $14 to $11.
In order to reduce congestion when we enter, we will reserve the tickets in advance and pay the museum directly.

Transportation will be handled by the area person organizing the transportation. Please indicate on the registration form whether you wish to be part of any group transportation arrangements.

If you have any questions, please contact Deacon Cheryl Erdmann.
