The Northern Illinois Synod will hold a Prayer Vigil over the Longest Night, December 21 from 4:30 p.m. on Monday, 12/21 until 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 12/22.

Please plan to join us on Facebook for this special event.

Questions, contact Dn. Cheryl Erdmann at cerdmann@nisynod.org

The Planning Team is looking for congregations, ministry teams, and prayerful individuals to volunteer for one of the hours. this involves:

  • Video a “meditative place” for 10 minutes which can be looped for the hour. (to see what we mean, please check Emanuel Lutheran Church, Strawberry Point, IA’s Evening Prayer video on FB.) We will loop the video for an hour.
  • Audio a spoken prayer/scripture on the hourly prayer focus. Cheryl and Miho have put together some ideas for these focuses, but the congregation/ministry team/individual can also choose a prayer focus that is meaningful to them, so if you want to do that, just pick your hour and add your prayer focus.

The group/person who signs up to provide the video and audio is not required to be present, but is welcome to do so, to monitor the comments section and respond if appropriate.
