You are invited to join Wartburg Seminary President Largen for a listening session for the Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church. The Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church is a direct action of a 2022 ELCA Churchwide Assembly Resolution which said, "To direct the Church Council to establish a Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church comprised of leaders of diverse representation from all three expressions that, working in consultation with the Conference of Bishops and the Church Council, shall reconsider the statements of purpose for each of the expressions of this church, the principles of its organizational structure, and all matters pertaining thereunto, being particularly attentive to our shared commitment to dismantle racism, and will present its findings and recommendations to the 2025 Churchwide Assembly in preparation for a possible reconstituting convention to be called under the rules for a special meeting of the Churchwide Assembly. These are important conversations to be involved in as we strategically think about not only the church of today but the church of tomorrow. We want to know what it is to be the church God is calling us to be. Join us as we seek to discern God’s Spirit and work to become the church God is calling us to be. We have set up four listening sessions with Wartburg Seminary President Largen for the Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church (CRLC). There will be two sessions for active rostered leaders, one for lay members of the Region, and one for retired rostered leaders. No registration is required to attend these sessions. These sessions are open to all of Region 5 (Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan).
