Asking for a gift for ministry excellence can sometimes be daunting for church leaders, especially in uncertain times. But there is good news: generosity is a gift of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Inviting disciples to put treasure and time where they say their heart is can be life-giving all around, but not every way of asking nor every way of receiving is geared toward ministry sustainability.
Facilitated by the Rev. Tim Brown, ELCA director for congregational stewardship, and the Rev. Lindsay Fertig-Johnson, synod generosity director for the Northern Illinois Synod, this webinar will look at the ins and outs of what makes a good gift invitation. We’ll discuss and provide practical ideas for how to avoid creating a situation where an annual budget is reliant on a single gift (and therefore not sustainable) and how generosity can encourage generosity throughout the whole process.
Oh, and you’ll get encouragement that will calm nerves!
