The Assembly offering will be divided equally between a seminary scholarship for female-identifying students in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the ordination of women to be disbursed through the existing scholarship fund of the synod, and to the International Women's Scholarship Fund of the ELCA.

In-Kind Offering
In response to a 2018 Synod Resolution encouraging an annual Synod Offering of Letters, the Social Ministry Committee established an Offering of Letters Subcommittee. Congregations and Assembly members were invited to participate at the 2019 Assembly. 3,000 letters were offered and sent to 8 Representatives and our 2 Senators advocating for legislation that supported the SNAP Program (Food Stamps) from being cut and tax credits for low income families. Both programs remained in place and fully funded.
At the 2021 Synod Assembly, voting members, guests, and congregations are once again invited to participate in an Offering of Letters (click Offering of Letters for info to conduct the Offering for your congregation and sending them to Representatives and Senators).

Offering of Letters
Bread for the World’s annual Offering of Letters campaign engages churches, campuses, and other faith communities in writing letters to Congress. Each year, for the focus of the campaign, we choose specific legislation or a legislative emphasis that can make a real difference to people struggling with hunger and poverty. You can find the most up-to-date information here. Find an email you can personalize and send here. People write letters, usually as a group, and present them as an offering to God before mailing them to Congress. Hundreds of Offerings of Letters are held each year, resulting in tens of thousands of letters to Congress. Supported with prayer, these letters are a bold witness to God’s justice and mercy. They have, and continue to have, a significant impact on the decisions made in Congress.
