Open God's Story at CRE
March 16, 2024

The theme for our synod for 2024 is Open God’s Story. This will be a time to connect God’s work throughout the Bible with God’s work in our lives.

The Event
You are invited to the Congregational Resourcing Event on March 16, 2024 at Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, Illinois. This is hosted by the Congregational Life Committee. This full day will be time to gather together as we share ideas and inspiration for all the great ways we are opening God’s story together in our congregations and in our communities.

The Guest Speaker
Our guest speaker is Rev. Miguel Gomez-Acosta, the Senior Director for New Ministry Development and Evangelism at the Churchwide Office of the ELCA. He will talk about the value of evangelism and share some stories that help us connect scripture with today.

 The Workshops
Following lunch, we will have time for two workshops hosted by both lay and rostered members of our synod. The Congregational Life Committee is gathering workshop leaders from across our synod to share about worship, education, leadership, and outreach. These workshops will be experiential and a time for sharing resources. The workshop listing will be shared as soon as it is ready.

The Location
Sauk Valley Community College, 173 IL Rt. 2 Dixon, IL  61021, is easy to access off Route 2 outside Dixon. This college is one large building that is handicap accessible. On the first floor, we will gather for registration in Dillon Mall, a large lobby area big enough for us to have display tables, food, and plenty of coffee. Then, we will move upstairs to the cafeteria for the morning’s events. There are stairs and elevators to access all floors. The cafeteria has small tables of 4 seats each for close conversations. After lunch, we will move to classrooms for workshops. Instead of staying on one floor, we will use classrooms on all three floors so that we can stay on the cafeteria side of the building.

Registration is now open and closes on March 2nd. The registration fee is $35 for the event. This includes breakfast treats, coffee, and lunch. All registrations must be paid with a credit card. If this is not possible, please contact our church office at 309-794-4004.

If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Julie Monnard.
